Creative Christmas decorations: designing separating discs using the napkin technique

With these simple instructions, I'll show you how to create beautiful separating discs for your festive decorations using the napkin technique. Not only is this technique child's play, but it also allows you to create unique and personalised accents that are sure to turn heads.

Preparing the cutting discs

Start by applying a thin coat of napkin varnish to the separating discs. The napkin varnish acts as an adhesive and ensures that the napkins adhere well later on. Make sure you apply an even layer so that the napkin motif can be stuck on later without creases.

Preparing the napkin motif

Choose a quarter motif from the napkins that you particularly like. Carefully cut out the desired motif. With the napkin technique, only the top, printed layer of the napkin is used. This layer is very thin and must be handled with care.

Place the motif

Carefully place the printed paper layer of the cut-out napkins on the prepared cutting disc. To fix the motif in place, apply another thin coat of napkin varnish. Do this carefully so that the motif does not slip or tear. Then leave the varnish to dry completely.

Remove excess napkin paper

Once the napkin varnish has dried, cut off the excess edges of the napkin. This ensures a neat finish and gives your cutting disc a professional look.

Transfer the lettering from the template

Print out the template and place it under the cutting disc. Use a Posca marker to trace the messages " COZY Winter or winter wonderland through the cutting disc. The marker pens from POSCA are ideal for creating detailed and precise lines.

Thread the ribbon

Cut a suitable ribbon and thread it through the hole in the cutting disc. If the ribbon does not fit easily through the hole, you can use a needle to help. The ribbon will later be used to loop your cutting disc.

Add decoration

Finally, you can add additional decorative elements such as small fir trees and berries to your work of art. Tie these to the ribbon to give your cutting disc a festive and unique touch.
