An individually designed nesting box is always a real eye-catcher in the garden and possibly the new home of native songbirds. We have painted a nesting box in natural shades of green and pasted Napkin technique on it. Of course you can also choose any other Napkins or colours and thus give your bird house your own personal touch.
How do I proceed?
First prime the untreated wood from nesting box with white outdoor paint and let everything dry well.
How do I apply Napkin technique to the nesting box?
Cut out the Napkin motif with silhouette scissors. Loosen the top layer of the Napkin and carefully position it on the bird house with a little Napkin varnish . Now paint over the Napkin and let everything dry well again.
Finally, wipe the edges of the nest box with a Paint sponge and a mixture of white and green outdoor paint. This will give you a great patinated look in natural colours.
Hanging tips for the nest box:
- hang up the nest box in an area protected from wind and rain
- the nesting box should hang as freely as possible, so that the feathered inhabitants are protected from access by cats or martens
