This homemade Bento bottom silo is a great way to store bread and rolls in an environmentally friendly way. Sewing this trendy Origami style fabric basket is easy.

Practical sewing idea for beginners
Fabric cut
In the first step download the template for the Fabric cut . You need one that measures 20 x 60 cm Fabric cut, without the seam allowances. Transfer the printed 20 x 20 cm pattern (marked A) three times with a line-ex pen next to each other onto your fabric and draw the seam allowance as shown in the small graphic (B). Cut the fabric to size. Cut the edges of the fabric so that they do not fray

Food-safe fabric impregnation
There are two ways to impregnate the fabric so that it is protected against dirt

It is particularly environmentally friendly to sprinkle the fabric with natural pastilles Beeswax . Place a piece of baking paper over it and iron the wax to form a protective layer

A sustainable alternative is to coat the fabric with TexWax. Use a brush for this. When the fabric is ironed after drying, the impregnating fluid turns into a reusable breathable film.
"Origami Folding"
To help you understand the steps, it might help to test folding with a piece of paper first

Divide your piece of fabric by small markings or into Needles three equal fabric squares. Place it in front of you with the right side (printed side of the fabric) facing up so that you have the seam allowances as shown in figure (B)

Fold the fabric corner from top left to bottom right diagonally to the bottom right corner of the left fabric square. The underside of the fabric is now at the top at this point. Fix the fabric with Needles.
Now fold the fabric corner at the bottom right diagonally to the top left corner of the right fabric square. Secure this fold with Pins.
Finally, fold the right half of the fabric diagonally from right to left along the middle dotted line. This way you already have the shape of the bag

If you sew the fabric together at the narrow seam allowances, you will already receive your bag. The fabric is also folded at the wide seam allowances. Once you've neatly hemmed the edges, your Bento bag is ready to be turned inside out

You want a pocket handle?
Sew two strips of fabric of 6 x 8 cm each to form small tabs. Cut 6 Jute yarn-pieces of 80 cm each. Pull the Jute yarn-strands through both flaps. Knot the skeins on the pocket tips and pull the flaps over them, thus covering the knots.
