Shape the clay into balls of different sizes. Use the balls to model the beak and, for some, a comb. Then shape the balls into a slightly oval shape and smooth the surface with a modelling tool and a little moisture. Poke feathers into the back of each bird as decoration and then leave all the modelled shapes to dry for approx. 24 hours.
After drying, seal the surface by coating each bird with clay sealant. Glue on the bird's eyes and paint the comb in honey yellow and the lower half of the body with the colours mentioned above. Carve in the hair of the chicks and paint them with honey yellow paint too.
