Pelikan - With passion and care for colour
Locally anchored, globally thinking: Pelikan is a company with vision. For over 180 years, Pelikan has been a reliable brand in the areas of writing, painting and school. From children's scribbles to the first learn-to-write fountain pen to the conclusion of a contract: Pelikan products range from creative and school supplies to office supplies and exclusive writing instruments and are lifelong companions. The figurative mark PELIKAN for the "Little Honey Colours" was designed by the company founder Günther Wagner himself, based on his family coat of arms. Günther Wagner drew the Pelikan logo with three chicks in the nest. Honey colours were common watercolours mixed with honey at that time. According to the price list of 1873, small, round honey colours were offered in boxes of 12, 18 or 24 colours, with the colour pots glued to the tin. In designing the stamp, Günther Wagner dispensed with the oval of the shield that formed the background for the representation of the pelican in the family coat of arms.
