Basic instruction for knitting with the knitting ring
You can knit in the round or in rows with a knitting ring. You can therefore create flat knitted pieces or knitted tubes. Our instructions work for both types of knitting. For flat knitting, you also set a start and end pin depending on the desired width of your knitted piece and knit the individual rows between these two pins.
This is how knitting with the knitting ring works

  1. Firstly, tie the beginning of the wool to the pin on the side (end pin)
  2. Wrap each pin once from the inside to the outside, i.e. wrap the gran round all the pins like a loop. Then wrap another row so that the pins are all wrapped twice. Now you can start knitting off the stitches.
  3. Now start knitting off the stitches. Start with the last wrapped peg. Use the knitting hook to pick up the bottom stitch and pull it over the top stitch.
  4. Now simply continue alternately wrapping and knitting by repeating steps 2 and 3 until you have reached the length you need. If you are knitting a hat that is to have a brim, knit ? about 16 rounds and then pull the first stitches onto the pins. Then pull the bottom stitch over the top stitch again. (See step photos 12 to 17) Then pull the bottom stitch over the top stitch again.
  5. Continue knitting until you have reached the desired length. This is already described in point 4

This is how you finish your knitted piece
Bind off (loop)
  • Wrap the yarn once around the first peg and pull the bottom stitch over it.
  • Wrap the yarn once around the second peg and pull the bottom stitch over it. Then fasten off the first stitch by pulling the stitch of the first peg onto the peg of the second stitch. Now wrap the yarn around the same peg from the left, pull the bottom stitch over it and repeat this process once more.
  • Repeat process 5.2 . until the end. Loosen the last loop from the peg and pull the thread through. Sew the end thread with the needle.

Alternative

Knotting (hat & headband)
  • Wrap the wool once around the ring and cut off the end. - Now thread the wool through the needle and pull it through each stitch and pull it together.
  • Finally, sew the wool from the inside and cut off the excess wool thread.
EXTRA - make a pompom at the same time

You can also wrap and sew on a pompom for the hat, for example.

  1. Position the two parts of the pompom wrapper open on top of each other so that the semicircles fit into the holes.
  2. Now wrap the wool around the wrapping templates until you have semi-circles of wool. First one half and then the other.
  3. Fold the two halves together and close them with the white fasteners.
  4. Cut the wrapped wool along the intersection of the two wrappers with sharp scissors.
  5. Before you open the fastener of the two wrappers, cut a wool thread, wrap it exactly along the cut and pull the thread tightly together, knotting it.
  6. Now remove the pompom wrappers and trim the pompom into a nice round shape.
  7. Finally, sew the pompoms on by hand using the needle from the knitting ring set.
