This is how the linoleum is processed:
Print out the template. Transfer to the linoleum with graphite paper.
Tip: Transfer the motif(s) onto the board to save space. Use scissors to cut it apart.
Linoleum printing is a letterpress process. This means that only the raised parts of the printing plate are transferred to the background. The remaining part of the plate is cut away with the lino knife. The standing motif prints onto the background after being rolled in with ink. As the motif cannot be seen during printing, you can draw small marks on the linoleum to help you.
Paint the stretcher frame with the VBS craft colours. To get clean lines, you can mask the stretcher frame with masking tape. Allow to dry.
Apply black craft paint to the paint & stencil roller and roll it over the lino print until the motif is covered with paint all over. Then press onto the stretcher, carefully peel off and apply paint again. Repeat this until you have printed the four motifs on the stretcher.
