Designing the vase
First cut a piece off one side of the polystyrene ring using a polystyrene cutter or a cutter to create a base.
On the opposite upper side, use a cutter to cut a depression into which a tea light jar is glued.
Now paint the entire surface with gesso. This will help the modelling clay to adhere better to the surface later. Allow to dry completely.
Have a small bowl of water ready for modelling.
Now knead the concrete modelling clay well to reduce air pockets and to make it supple.
Gradually roll out individual pieces to a thickness of about 0.5 cm. On the side that will later rest on the substructure, moisten the modelling clay with wet fingers and then apply it. Press on well and make sure that as little air as possible is trapped between the mass and the substructure.
Gradually work on all the other pieces until everything is completely covered with the modelling clay - keep smoothing the transitions with wet fingers.
Allow the mass to dry completely.
If cracks appear during drying, you can fill them with modelling clay and a little water.
